I have just visited a shop in town called 'Moor & More Beer' (
www.moorandmorebeer.co.uk) and spoke with the owner of the shop about labels. He said that the label of the beer DOES make a difference in sales and how poor labels can stop people buying the product. I also had a look at the ales on the shelf and bought several bottles from 'Summerskills Brewery' (
www.summerskills.co.uk). He also gave me the name of the person who owns Summerskills, a Carl Beeson and he told me that he is an ex-navy man and that is why many of the beers have a navy theme. He also told me that the owner of 'South Hams Brewery' (
www.southhamsbrewery.co.uk) is actually looking to redesign the labels as he has told the owner that he was not impressed by the bottles, this may be worth looking into. He also gave me two websites
www.southdevoncamra.com and
www.carnmenellis.demon.co.uk which has a list of real ale brewerys in south devon and cornwall. Also his website (noted above) has a list of brewerys too.
The beers I bought were as followed...
- Summerskills Best Bitter
- Devon Dew
- Guzzale
- Indiana's Bones
- Out Back & Home
- Whistle Belly Vengeance
